New Virtual Desktop animation released

entrustIT have released a new virtual desktop whiteboard animation. It is designed to provide a slightly tongue-in-cheek description of the benefits of a Virtual Desktop. Especially of interest to a forward thinking business owner or not-for-profit CEO it highlights some of the reasons why a virtual desktop makes good sense, including better security, lower costs and greater flexibility.

Check out our YouTube channel for more virtual desktop information.

entrustIT score high in annual customer satisfaction survey

In our 2013-14 customer satisfaction survey, entrustIT scored highly with customers, more than 95% expressing high levels of satisfaction with product, service and support.

“In a year when we were also striving for ISO9001 & ISO27001 certification this was a pleasing result”, comments Managing Director Jeff Dodd, “however we aren’t complacent and will be looking to drive the results even higher in the year to come.”

As part of the survey results, entrust virtual Desktop users were asked to make suggestions to assist with future development and many responded positively. A number will now be asked to work with us to see their suggestions become a reality.

UK county councils reluctant to embrace G-cloud?

According to research by Bull Information Systems, UK county councils are largely ignoring the Government’s G Cloud initiatives in favour of their existing IT supply contracts and internal services. The research was based on Freedom of Information Act requests to 27 councils, with 26 respondees.

Bull cite two particular examples

  • Kent – the largest spending council on IT at £38.5m, spent less than 0.2% of its budget (£94,750) on G-Cloud solutions in 2012-13
  • Hampshire – a similar spender at £38m, spent nothing at all with G-Cloud in 2012-13

In fact, across all the 26 councils (total IT spend £440m), in 2012-13 only £385,000 was spent with G-Cloud. A tiny fraction of the overall.

From inception to the end of March 2014, £175.5m in sales has been handled via G-Cloud, but only 20% of that was for local government. At 80%, central government looks more impressive until you consider that total central government IT spend is almost £7bn annually.

It seems that despite having 1,500 suppliers, offering more than 17,000 services, that G-Cloud is still being ignored by the majority of central and local Government CIOs for their IT procurement – despite anticipated savings of 25-60% over traditional IT.

It seems that without some central enforcement, there’s unlikely to be any break up of big ticket local government IT arrangements any time soon.

entrustIT attain ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 accreditation

entrustIT are pleased to announce that we have achieved the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management standard and the ISO 27001:2013 Information Security standard following an audit in April 2014.

Gaining both certifications is a landmark in the development of the business. Managing Director, Jeff Dodd comments : “Achieving both standards in parallel sends a clear message to our customers and resellers that we are committed to the very highest standards of service delivery and security. I am delighted that our team’s considerable efforts have been rewarded

Although the entrustIT datacentre facilities have always been ISO 27001 certified, achieving the certification at an organisational level demonstrates that information security is at the heart of the entrustIT business processes. As organisations become more highly regulated, having a service delivery partner with the “Gold Standard” for process and security will become ever more important.
